News Release - Colorado State Board of Education upholds district decision not to renew contract for Pueblo 60 charter school
At its May meeting, the Colorado State Board of Education upheld a Jan. 28 decision by the Pueblo 60 School District to not renew the contract of Chavez/Huerta K-12 Preparatory Academy - a charter school in the district.
News Release - Colorado Department of Education presents 695 awards to Colorado schools and districts
The Colorado Department of Education held a ceremony today to recognize and celebrate 71 school districts and 346 schools that won performance awards in the 2023 and 2024 school years. State Board of Education Chair Rebecca McClellan, Vice Chair Yazmin Navarro, Board member Lisa Escárcega, Board member Kathy Gebhardt and Colorado Education Commissioner Susana Córdova presented the awards to about 90 school and district representatives during the event at the Colorado State University Spur Campus in Denver.
News Release -- Colorado Department of Education celebrates record participation in 2026 Teacher of the Year application process
The Colorado Department of Education announced record participation in its 2026 Teacher of the Year application process. The department received 419 applications from educators representing 68 school districts across the state - more than four times the number of applications received last year (94). More than 1,800 educators were invited to apply for the program based on a statewide nomination process.
