2020 Archive: ESEA Office Hours

On April 23rd, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded the Office Hours presentation around Non-Public Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note that districts and BOCES should continue to discuss the needs of the NPS during consultation and begin to collect their needs associated with the COVID pandemic. This will prepare you for when the CARES Act funding is released. The team also goes into Stakeholder Engagement resources as they have received several questions regarding ESSA stakeholder engagement requirements and practices during the COVID-19 situation and social distancing orders.

CARES Act Office Hours 

On April 30th, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded the Office Hours presentation around the CARES Act. The team went over the most frequently asked questions around the CARES Act and answered questions from the field about what to expect when it comes to the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSERF). Consolidated Application Office Hours

On May 7th, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded the Office Hours about the Consolidated Application. ESSERF Office Hours 

On May 14th, 2020, the Office of ESEA continued their presentation around the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSERF). This presentation was recorded. ESSERF Office Hours (Continued)

On May 22nd, 2020, the Office of ESEA continued their presentation around the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSERF). This presentation was recorded. LEA Application for Funds

ESSER Allowable Uses Office Hours 

On June 4th, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded a presentation on the allowable uses of ESSER. This includes activities under ESEA, the McKinney-Vento Act, the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

ESSER: Lessons Learned Office Hours

On June 11th, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded another presentation on ESSER. This presentation goes over what CDE has seen in the submitted applications and offers advice on how to get an approved application. The team also went over considerations for the budget. They continued the conversation around Non-Public schools and they also touched on how to request funds for ESSER.

CRF Office Hours

On June 18th, 2020, the Office of ESEA and teams from other units across CDE, recorded a presentation around the Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF). This presentation went over the office in charge of those funds, allowable activities, and the team answered questions about the funds.

GEER, CRF, and ESSER Office Hours

On June 25, 2020, the Office of ESEA and teams from other units across CDE, recorded a presentation on the CARES Act multiple funding sources. Our team and units across CDE provided an update on the Governor’s Education Emergency Relief fund (GEER), followed up on the Coronavirus Relief Fund’s (CRF) new resource, and gave some tips and reminders for the ESSER application.

ESSER Updates Office Hours

On July 9th, 2020, the Office of ESEA and teams from other units across CDE, recorded a presentation on ESSER Updates. This presentation included information on what CDE needs to see in the ESSER applications to approve activities. The field asked great questions about ESSER and CRF.

On July 16th, 2020, the Office of ESEA recorded a presentation on Non-Public Schools Proportionate Share in ESSER. The team goes over the different ways districts can serve Non-Public Schools and how to calculate that proportionate share.

CRF Office Hours

On July 23rd, 2020, the CRF team recorded a presentation about guidance on the CRF. This includes information around increasing instructional time, substantially different and using the 51%, developing capacity for remote learning vs. delivering remote learning, small equipment purchases, capital expenditures reminder, Charter School considerations, and a follow up on questions from previous office hours.

CRF and ESSER Office Hours Update 

On July 30, 2020 CDE recorded a short presentation on the CRF and ESSER updates. The recording starts off with the ESSER team going over the Post Award Revision system for the ESSER Application. The CRF team then went into updates regarding Preschool and Charter School considerations, as well as, record retention.

Q&A on ESSER, CRF, and ESEA

On August 13, 2020, CDE recorded a short presentation and general question and answer session on ESSER, CRF, and ESEA. The recording and PowerPoint include a short clarification on the Grant Award Period for ESSER, and reminders that budgeted activities must be reasonable, necessary, and allocable. ESSER, CRF and GEER Updates

On October 1st, 2020, CDE recorded a presentation to provide updates and clarifications on ESSER, specifically the new Connecting Colorado Students Grant (CCSG) through the ESSER State Reserve and the latest information on Non-public Schools and Equitable Services requirements. In addition, CDE provided some clarifications around CRF 0.5% Admin Costs and Charter Schools and followed up with answers from a previous session regarding the RISE funds.
