CoMath Update for February 8, 2021

I hope some of you got to enjoy some or all of the NCTM Virtual Conference last week. There was so much to learn! Please don't miss any of the deadlines below — a bunch are coming up very soon.

Colorado Math Leaders

The next meeting of the Colorado Math Leaders is tomorrow, February 9, from 10:00 to 12:00 at https://zoom.us/j/7205203698. You can join the CML mailing list at https://groups.io/g/comathleaders to get meeting reminders and to engage in discussions with other math leaders from around Colorado.

CDE Professional Development Survey

The Office of Standards and Instructional Support invites all Colorado educators to participate in a PD needs survey. The survey results will be used to shape the kinds of PD and training opportunities CDE provides. Completing the survey should take less than 5 minutes and we encourage you to share the survey with others who can contribute. The survey will close Friday, February 12. Access the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JGX3JZ8.

PAEMST

Do you know an excellent Grade 7-12 teacher of a STEM content area? Nominate them for a PAEMST award! The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, or PAEMST, are the nation's highest honors for teachers in STEM fields. This year's nominations close March 1 and teachers need to complete their applications by April 1. Recipients of the award receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States, a paid trip to Washington D.C. for recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award. Learn more and complete the nomination form at https://www.paemst.org/.

CCTM

The Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics (CCTM) is taking applications for teacher and leader awards (due March 1!) and continuing its Taking Action book study with sessions about meaningful discourse on March 2, 4, and 6.

ICAP

It's the 10th anniversary of ICAP and we are celebrating! Join teachers, administrators, counselors, CTE professionals, and other educators for "PWR Showcases" that highlight Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) practices designed for students as they build towards postsecondary and workforce readiness (PWR). The first showcase will be held Tuesday, Febuary 9 at 3:30 with others to follow in the coming months. Register today to take part in any or all of the showcases, learn more about the newest PWR guidance, and contact Robin Russel with any questions or to know more.
