Facing History Lesson Plan: Everyone Has a Story

This lesson has two purposes. It teaches students about one young man's experience in Cambodia during the genocide and helps them develop awareness of the different life experiences of their classmates. I would show the video clip first and then have the students read the story and respond to the discussion questions

The S-21 (Tuol Sleng) 'Security Prison' was a torture and execution center used by the Khmer Rouge during the Cambodian genocide of 1976-1979. This mother and baby were among the victims.
