ARP ESSER III Countdown to Closeout
- ESSER Close-Out
- Submit ESSER II Close-out documents as soon as possible, if not already submitted.
- Reporting - 2022-2023 School Year
- Ensure the LEA has submitted student participation in summer school, afterschool, extended learning opportunities, high-dosage intensive tutoring, full-service community schools, early childhood education, and educational technology use for the 2022-2023 school year using the LEA Participation Survey on the ESSER Grantee/Subgrantee Reporting webpage.

Do Monthly:
- Request for Funds - Monthly until November 15, 2024
- LEAs must request reimbursement after an obligated activity has been implemented and paid by submitting a Request for Funds (RFF) on a monthly basis.
- Ensure that LEA does not have any remaining funds to be requested. View grant balances on the State and Federal Grant Distribution Reports.

- Submit any Final Application Revisions - By June 30, 2024
- Ensure ARP-ESSER III application accurately reflects the activities that have been implemented and the costs incurred. Submit Post-Award Revisions (PARs) if changes are needed.
- Ensure the LEA’s 20% Learning Loss Set-Aside is met, submit a PAR if needed.
- Plan Requirements - Until September 30, 2024
- Ensure the LEA’s Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan has been reviewed and updated (if needed), every 6 months and posted to the LEA’s website through September 30, 2024. Check to see if LEA’s plan is linked on CDE’s List of LEA Plans website.
- Ensure the LEA’s ARP-ESSER III Use of Funds Plan is posted to the district’s website through September 30, 2024. Check to see if your LEA’s plan is linked on CDE’s List of LEA Plans website.
- Obligation of Funds - By September 30, 2024
- All funds must be obligated by September 30, 2024! Obligation means that activities have been implemented or there is a commitment (e.g., an executed contract) in place. See the obligation timetable for when an obligation occurs.
- Review application to ensure that activities have been or can be implemented or there is a commitment to pay.
- If approved activities have changed or cannot be obligated prior to the deadline, submit a Post-Award Revision.

May 2024:
- Reporting - 2023-2024 School Year
- Prepare data file student participation in summer school, afterschool, extended learning opportunities, high-dosage intensive tutoring, full-service community schools, early childhood education, and educational technology use in the 2023-2024 school year; that data will be reported in the LEA Participation Survey.
- Please refer to ESSER Grantee/Subgrantee Reporting webpage for templates that CDE will use to collect data beginning in May.
- Submit Request for Funds!
- Submit any request for revisions!
June 2024:
- Submit Request for Funds!
- Check remaining balance on the State and Federal Grant Distribution Reports.
- Submit any final revisions by June 30, 2024!
- Ensure activities and costs in the application reflect activities implemented or to be implemented by September 30, 2024 or any costs that are obligated or are to be obligated by September 30, 2024.
July 2024:

August 2024:
- Submit a Request for Funds!
- Check remaining balance on the State and Federal Grant Distribution Reports.
- Begin to prepare LEA’s Close-out Document - submit when ready!
September 2024:
- Ensure all funds are obligated by the end of the month!
- Submit a Request for Funds!
- Check remaining balance on the State and Federal Grant Distribution Reports.
- Liquidation Extension

- Ensure the LEA has met all ESSER reporting requirements. Refer to the ESSER Grantee/Subgrantee Reporting webpage for due dates.
November 2024:
