Administrative Mentoring Cohort (AMC) Meeting

Date: Wednesday, October 4th, 2023

Time: 8:30 a.m.- 3:15 p.m.

Location:  Hybrid Format: Pinnacle Athletic Complex, 8650 Conifer Rd, Thornton, CO 80260; virtually via Zoom Meetings

Details: Schools of Choice Unit offers six Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC) Meetings throughout the year. Meetings are held in September, October, November, February, March, and May. All AMC meetings are conducted in hybrid format, in-person at host charter schools along the front range and virtually via an online platform. All sessions will take place from 8:00 am-3:15 pm.  The theme for October’s meeting is “Supporting and Caring for Staff”.

CCSP Grant and Application Training (GAT), Part II: Submitting App in GAINS

Date: Thursday, October 19th, 2023

Time: 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Location:  Virtual Meeting via Zoom Meetings

Details: For New, Expanding, and Replicating charter schools in Colorado seeking startup funds by the federal program/grant administered by the Schools of Choice Unit at CDE. Applicants are welcome to receive helpful information about the new grants management system and how to effectively submit the full application and supporting documents.

Charter Development Summit Series Webinar #1: The Ups and Downs of Opening a Charter School in Colorado

Date: Thursday, October 19th

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Location: Virtual on Zoom

Details: Join the Schools of Choice Unit in our first webinar of our Charter Development Series as we explore the ups and downs of opening a charter school in Colorado. Jim Christensen will facilitate our conversation as we explore the steps to opening a charter school in Colorado, as well as the importance of understanding community needs in the creation a charter school. Amanda Marquez will tell us about her journey to open Be the Change High School in Adams 14. This webinar is open to charter school developers at all stages with a particular focus on those in the beginning stages.

Board Fundamentals (Fall)

Date: Friday, October 27^th, 2023

Details: Please Join the Schools of Choice Unit for Board Fundamentals. This fall, we will revisit the basics to renew our understanding of our roles as governance members. We will also discuss issues geared toward strengthening our practices to support our school leaders, staff, and students.
