Spring 2024

In spring 2024, students in grades three through eight took the CMAS English language arts (ELA) and mathematics assessments. Students in grades five, eight, and eleven took the CMAS science assessments. Social studies assessments were not administered.

Spring 2021

In spring 2021, Colorado's third- through eighth-graders took CMAS assessments. Given the challenges created by COVID, the state legislature and U.S. Department of Education reduced the number of tests students were required to take in spring 2021. Students were only required to take one test in either ELA or math, depending on their grade, but parents could choose to have children take both tests if they wanted to see how their children were progressing in both subject areas. Students in grades three, five, and seven took ELA assessments; students in grades four, six, and eight took math assessments; and students in grade eight also took science assessments. The grade five and high school science and grades four and seven social studies assessments were not administered.

Spring 2020

CMAS assessments were not administered in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mathematics Assessments

• Students in grades 3-8 took the grade level assessment for their enrolled grade.

  • 2018-19 was the first year of the second three year social studies sampling cycle.
  • High school social studies assessments were deferred for Spring 2019.

Mathematics Assessments

• Students in grade 11 took the high school science assessments.
  • 2017-18 was the third year of the first three year social studies sampling cycle.
  • High school social studies assessments were deferred for Spring 2018.
