Project Towards No Drug Abuse (TND)

About This Resource

Project TND is an effective, evidence-based substance abuse prevention program. This classroom-based, interactive program focuses on three factors that predict tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use, violence-related behaviors, and other problem behaviors among youth, including:

Motivation factors (i.e., students’ attitudes, beliefs, expectations, and desires regarding drug use);
Skills (effective communication, social self-control, and coping skills); and
Decision-making (i.e., how to make important decisions that lead to improved health and quality of life).
The program provides detailed information about the social and health consequences of drug misuse, and provides motivation enhancement strategies, and includes instruction in active listening, and effective communication skills. It also teaches stress management, effective coping skills, tobacco cessation techniques, improved self-control, and decision making skills to counteract risk factors for drug abuse.
