Colorado districts can claim for Medicaid covered services that are provided in schools. The Colorado Department of Education provides training for developing the local services plans required for participation in this program. This site provides guidance and resources.

July 1, 2024: Tyler Marsh is the new CDE School Health Services Medicaid Consultant replacing Omar Estrada. Addtionally, the CDE School Health Services (Medicaid) Program website update is now live. Here are the major updates: (1) 2024-2025 program deliverable deadlines are posted, (2) updated School Health Services (Medicaid) Program Learning Tool, (3) dates, links, and formats were updated for various support documents.
October 1, 2020: Free Care update in effect. Beginning in October 2020 the School Health Services (Medicaid) Program expansion will include program-covered services to be reimbursable to districts and BOCES for Health First Colorado enrolled students that have other medical plans of care (outside of IEPs/IFSPs) where medical necessity has been established.
CDE School Health Services (SHS) Program Learning Tool

Topics in this Moodle course include the basics of the Local Services Plan (LSP) and the Reimbursement Spending Report (RSR), LSP development and implementation, and support tools available to program participants. This course offers valuable insights and practical tools to program participants, whether they are new to the program or looking to refresh their knowledge.
