Amplify ELAT Newsletter--September 24, 2019

ELAT Newsletter for Program Contacts and Administrators

Starting with this newsletter, we are offering specific topics for you and then noting another section at the bottom of the newsletter for teachers. Your teachers do not receive this newsletter from us so please copy/paste the Teacher section and forward it to your teachers, interventionists, and coaches.  Thank you for your assistance with this!

Check completion and make sure PM has started! By this time of the year, your completion rate should be very close to or at 100% and progress monitoring should have begun! Please work with your teachers to ensure the ELAT guidelines are being followed.

Administer Progress Monitoring as follows:

  1. Students scoring at Well Below Benchmark (intensive support): at least once every 7-10 days

  2. Students scoring at Below Benchmark (strategic support): at least once every 10-12 days

  3. Within the READ Act and ELAT there are no requirements for progress monitoring Benchmark and Above Benchmark students.

  • Best Practices would include progress monitoring to ensure that students remain on track to achieving the next reading milestones.

  • Considerations for Progress Monitoring B/AB:

    • Progress monitoring for these students could occur in a timely way to inform instruction

    • Remember that all green is not equal. You may want to monitor those students who are at the lower end of benchmark

    • Progress monitoring data should always be used to inform instructional next steps

This monthly newsletter will include helpful hints that can benefit you as you as you work with your DIBELS data and plan instruction for your students.
