Amplify ELAT Newsletter--March 2020 Special Edition

ELAT Program Contacts and Administrators

We, your ELAT Team, recognize we are all in the process of quickly making unexpected paradigm shifts.  First and foremost, we wish safety and health to each of you and your communities.

This newsletter is focused on a few ELAT updates and resources for you and your staff, specifically to help during this uncertain time.

READ Act Spring Assessment requirements canceled

CDE is suspending spring K-3 READ Act assessment requirements for state reporting purposes.  If in-person instruction resumes this spring, teachers should exercise their judgment on the feasibility of giving the spring assessments to provide information to parents and to inform their instructional planning.

The department will not collect spring reading assessment data and instead will base per pupil intervention funding for the 2020-21 school year on 2019-20 information. At this time, the department is determining what it will require to be submitted in the spring READ collection beyond a budget and narrative for use of READ funds in the 2020-21 school year, and we will be extending the submission timeline.

Online Instructional Resources

Amplify has created a specific site of resources to assist with remote/online learning.

Here are ways to use this site:

  • Go to the mCLASS Tile to download a grade-level packet of activities to send home (via email or digitally)

  • Send home this letter (English or Spanish) for parents explaining how to access our Home Connect portal. You can print the letter and send it home with students, send it by email, or post it online.

  • Coming soon to this page will be activities organized by grade and skill along with a quiz to help parents determine what skills their child would benefit from working on.

  • Amplify will continue to add to this resource site.
