Guidance on Remote Assessment

End of year (EOY) assessments are NOT Required. However, some districts have asked for information about assessing students between now and the end of the school year to monitor student progress. Please see the attached for Amplify’s recommendations if you would like to use mCLASS: Acadience Reading (formally known as mCLASS: DIBELS Next) to monitor student learning and use the results to help with instructional next steps.

In addition, Amplify will be hosting Office Hours on Best Practices for Assessing Remotely on Wednesday, April 15th at 1:00 MST and Monday, April 20th at 2:00 MST.

Please register if you would like additional information.

Please pass the following guidance on to your staff if your district chooses to use remote assessment:

End of the Year Professional Development: Multiple Sessions Offered Remotely

Given the recent events around COVID-19 that prevent gatherings in person, and in coordination with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), we have decided to move all of our end of year professional development for ELAT to a remote modality. We will be offering data analysis sessions for both leaders and teachers daily Monday - Thursday, April 26 - May 21. You can choose to review data up through recent progress monitoring, data from previous school years, or use our demo (practice) data when we get to those sections.

This is an opportunity for all leaders and teachers to be able to attend with no costs for travel or substitutes. We encourage schools to have teams register ASAP.

Objectives  - Leaders

  • Review key end of year (EOY) data for school, grades, and teachers through reports at the composite score and measure levels
  • Identify both celebrations within the data and underlying causes that affect instructional change
  • Reflect on EOY pathways achieved to make adjustments for the next year of instruction
  • Develop an action plan for school year 2020-2021 that drives increased student growth
  • Customize a “Make It, Take It” slide deck to share with school staff

Objectives - Teachers

  • Interpret recent benchmark assessment data at the composite score, measure, and probe levels
  • Review student goals set and pathways achieved using Pathways of Progress
  • Identify celebrations and reflect on root causes for growth areas within the data
  • Envision a “Change Idea” for improving instruction next year based on reflections on this year
