Summary: Academy of Las Animas Online Schools will be a Colorado multi-district online school serving secondary students grades 7th through 12th grade. In general, we will offer the best of both worlds; a traditional model that is made up of trained educational staff and the innovative and flexible experience for students with a virtual learning model.

Academically, we want students and parents to have physical teachers, instructional support staff, principals and assistant principals. A traditional educational hierarchy and job descriptions so that folks know who to go to when there is a question or concern.  When a student or parent calls, we want that to be answered by the school and not "corporate". Additionally, we will couple this with an effective team of interventionists who will provide various support for students and families as needed.  We want to be responsive and respectful as we work with families to meet their child's academic and social emotional needs. This allows all aspects of school to be where the students are versus only providing services from the brick and mortar building.

We will be providing a free "Blended Learning" program. Each student will be provided with a laptop computer so they can access our award winning online curriculum provided by Edgenuity and social emotional curriculum that is supported by certified and licensed teachers who will engage students in the curriculum and guide them in a well rounded educational experience. The administration team and teachers will also team up with a task force of interventionists, who will help coach the student to academic success and provide social emotional support.  Academy of Las Animas will provide hands-on learning opportunities in science, math, making and engineering at Drop in Zones and in communities through designated Learning Pods for remote online learning. Students who reside in the same geographical area will be given opportunities to come into nearby drop-in zone centers. For students who don’t reside by one of our drop-in zones there will be virtual drop-in zones as well as the formation of  Learning pods will be created and made up of students in a certain geographical region and activities will take place in public areas such as parks, libraries etc. This gives students the chance for hands-on learning and social opportunities to interact with fellow online students.

Students at our school will be offered several different pathways to success. From a more traditional high School Diploma experience, to Concurrent Enrollment in college course, to specialized training in CTE courses and finally a credit recovery program which caters to students who are overage and under credited with a program which will catch them up, still provide them with a high school diploma as well as workforce readiness certificate. At the Academy of Las Animas online we provide a personalized experience, with dedicated teachers who prepare students for success in life.
