Innovation & Choice
CDE’s Division of Innovation & Choice focuses on expanding learning opportunities beyond the typical school building, day, and calendar; ramping up the supply of quality online and blended learning options; supporting new schools and programs and replicating those with proven track records of success; and identifying policy or system changes needed within CDE and across the state in order to meet the needs of 21st century learners.
Currently, in partnership with the Colorado Legacy Foundation, the division is creating a strategic vision and plan for rolling out the recent recommendations of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Commission. The work of the commission will help identify the goals and strategies of the division in the coming years.
The Division of Innovation and Choice is headed by Amy Anderson, assistant commissioner of innovation & choice. The units of online learning, state library, adult education & family literacy, schools of choice, and innovation schools all operate within this new division.
