Dr. Jessica Djabrayan Hannigan & Dr. John Hannigan SEL Anytime, Anywhere! As the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great deal of reflection in schools throughout the nation, the need to address Social and Emotional Learning has taken center stage. As educators, we are also aware that there were already significant mental health, social, emotional, and behavioral needs prior to the pandemic. Now more than ever, it is critical to address SEL – but how can we determine our students’ needs and what do we do about it? This session offers tools and best practice processes for social-emotional learning that you can implement immediately in any setting and with any age groups.
1. Understand the five SEL competencies, and how to utilize easy-to-use tools and processes for building students’ skills in competency.
2. Identify challenging student behaviors and effective responses to those behaviors, as well as prioritize what should be addressed and what student mastery of SEL skills looks like.
3. Implement effective strategies, tips and approaches for identifying, teaching, modeling and reinforcing SEL skills in any environment – including our classrooms, schools, homes and communities
