The Colorado Department of Education is suspending the requirement to complete IEP file reviews for school age students, ages 4 – 14 and early childhood students, ages 3 – 4 for the SY 2019-2020 due to COVID-19 related closure of school buildings. We recognize and support the challenging work you are doing to provide essential and appropriate services to students with disabilities in these exceptional and unprecedented circumstances.
At this time, transition Age 15+ IEP record reviews for 2019-2020 are still required because CDE must collect and report Indicator 13 data for the State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR) to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in February, 2021. To reduce the burden on AUs, the CDE is extending the data collection deadline for these reviews by 4 months, from June 1, 2020 to October 1, 2020.
We hope this extension will allow school districts to complete these reviews once schools are reopened.
The State of Colorado provides an online Individual Education Program (IEP) system through Enrich® to support Administrative Units (AU) with a standardized format for the IEP process. The Data Management System (DMS) is a single sign on system that assists AUs in meeting accountability requirements for Special Education and Gifted Education.
