Good Behavior Game

About This Resource

The Good Behavior Game (GBG) is an evidence-based, team-based classroom behavior management strategy for early elementary grades, implemented by the American Institutes for Research (AIR). The program uses a structured game format with clear classroom rules, team play, and positive reinforcement to help students develop self-regulation and reduce disruptive and aggressive behavior. Research has linked short-term GBG participation to reductions in off-task and disruptive behavior, and long-term outcomes including lower rates of drug and alcohol misuse, depression, suicidal ideation, and incarceration. AIR provides teacher and coach training and ongoing implementation support, with a goal of building local capacity for sustained use.
