Step 2: Review Current Student Performance

Review current student performance in early elementary.

  1. Review the data collected for patterns across different data sources and trends occurring over multiple years. For the first few years completing an ELNA, trend data may not be available; however, identifying patterns in data from different data sources may inform priorities.
  2. If using the ELNA data analysis template, review the summary sheet and create additional tables as needed to support analysis.

Questions to support discussion on early elementary achievement data

  • Looking across student outcome data, how many students are below benchmarks and may require additional tier 2 or tier 3 support? How many students remain below benchmark over time? In which domains or content areas is this occurring?
  • For kindergarten students below/at/above benchmark, how does the KSR literacy domain compare with the READ interim assessment?
  • Viewing longitudinal progress from kindergarten through 3rd grade, what trends do you see over time?
