Annual Inspection Guide - School Transportation Technician 

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) School Transportation Unit has promulgated this resource guide to assist public school districts as well as Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) with developing policies and procedures for the safe transportation of students. These guidelines provide manufacturer recommendations, industry standards and best practices which are consistent with the Colorado Minimum Standards Governing School Transportation Vehicles, 1 CCR 301-25 and the Colorado Rules for the Operation, Maintenance and Inspection of School Transportation Vehicles 1 CCR 301-26. This publication is intended to serve as a transportation provider resource toward compliance with legislation and regulations. Link to Guide.

Annual Inspector and Bus Dealer Map

The linked Map and Contact Information for Annual Inspectors, Annual Inspector Hands on Testers, Outside Inspection Sites and new and used Bus Dealers, has been designed to provide district transportation operations an easy way to obtain assistance near their location. The map will simplify the process of locating a district, person, or site needed for certification, annual inspection or other assistance that they may need pertaining to annual inspections or bus purchasing. Annual Inspector Qualification and Re-Certification Tests 

These updated tests are based on the COLORADO RULES FOR THE OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION OF SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES, 1 CCR 301-26 effective December 15, 2021 and COLORADO MINIMUM STANDARDS GOVERNING SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES, 1 CCR 301-25 effective April 30,2015.  The current tests are 2020-Q (100 questions) for certification and 2020-R (50 questions) for recertification.
