Student urges "teaching with SOUL"

Approximately 1,600 employees from across District 49 attended a back-to-school event July 27 at Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs, where they were encouraged by senior Evan Mahon to teach with a SOUL -- an acronym for being Sincere, or being authentic and genuine; Overcoming and confronting adversity; being Unique, original and standing out; and Lead, creating a positive environment.

New school nurses meet for orientation

Seventy-five nurses new to school nursing convened in an orientation meeting last week in Cherry Creek to learn about managing students with special health care needs so that they are safe at school and ready to learn.
