Amplify ELAT Newsletter-April 22, 2019

Important Information Needed

The Colorado Department of Education and Amplify are dedicated to ensuring proper support is built into the Early Literacy Assessment Tool (ELAT) program, which provides mCLASS:DIBELS Next for your school.  Your comments and opinions help drive planning for the program. Please take a few moments to complete this satisfaction survey.  Thank you for your time and your thoughtful responses.

End of the Year Assessment Reminders

  • Confirm your benchmark window with all of your teachers (State window is April 22nd - May 10th. If your window is outside of those dates, please make sure it was approved by CDE.) If you have questions regarding benchmark windows, please contact Christy Hughes at chughes@amplify.com.

  • Remember to sync often while assessing.  Best practices are to sync after assessing every 3-5 students, when you finish an assessment session, and at the end of the day.  Also, it is best practice to sync and log out at the end of the year before putting the device away.

Where can I find ELAT Information and Resources?

Check out how our site is continuing to expand!  You can go directly to www.amplify.com/colorado to see the latest information. Remember to bookmark it!

Recently we added additional information regarding our Home Connect Center so you have easy access to provide parents with lessons  to help their child. This is a great resource for parents for summertime!

Setting Your 2019-20 Benchmark Windows

Please fill out this form by July 5, 2019, so that your window is set correctly.

When selecting your benchmark windows in the fields below, please ensure that the assessment dates comply with the following guidelines:

BOY: Select a two week window during the first 30 calendar days of your school year. Kindergarten consideration: Through a provision in HB15-1323, you may choose to use up to 60 calendar days for initial benchmarking. However, we would encourage districts to continue with best practice by benchmarking and providing support early in the year, within the first 30 days. Completion of your READ BOY assessment within the 60 days will inform the literacy component of your readiness assessment.

MOY: Select a two week window that falls between December 2nd - 20th OR January 6th - January 24th. (**Please note your dates need to be prior to the Holiday break OR after the Holiday break.)

EOY: Select a two week window within April 27th - May 15th.

If you have questions regarding benchmark windows, please contact Christy Hughes at chughes@amplify.com.
