Charter School Technical Assistance Events

Thank you for visiting our events page. We are pleased that you have an interest in the events that the Schools of Choice Unit offers each year! There are a variety of quality technical assistance and professional development opportunities available to all charter schools operating in the state of Colorado. These events are meant to provide best practices for charter school operations, analyze charter school trends, and identify areas of growth and provide solutions to charter school practitioners in need of optimal support, as it is our goal to help create successful and sustainable charter schools. We hope to see you at one (or many) of our events!

*Please note CCSP Grant recipients must participate in technical assistance events offered by the Schools of Choice Unit as a prerequisite for grant funding.*

Many organizations have supporting webinars and resources for the charter community. The Schools of Choice Unit acknowledges that there is a need for charter-specific guidance have therefore compiled events below from various organizations that have offered support. February Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC) Meeting

Date: Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022

Time: 8:00am- 4:30pm

Location:  Liberty Common School, 1725 Sharp Point Dr, Fort Collins, CO 80525

Details:  We welcome all of Colorado's charter school leaders! The Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC) is designed to build leadership capacity among new charter school administrators and those aspiring to be charter school administrators. Building administrators' skills and capacity positively affects teachers, school culture, school operations, and student achievement. During the 2021-22, AMC meetings will be held in-person at host schools. Virtual options will be available for participates that have a COVID related reason, or extenuating circumstance. Please plan to participate in person unless you have coordinated with the SOC to participate virtually.

February Topic-Based Webinar

Date: Tuesday, February 8th, 2022

Time: 11:00am-12:30pm

Location: Virtual via Zoom Meetings

Details: Please join the Schools of Choice unit for the fourth topic-based webinar of the 2021-2022 school year on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, from 11:00am-12:30pm. In this topic-based webinar, Amanda Karger, Owner of Paragon Financial Services, will conclude a two-part webinar series focused on Charter School Finance Basics. During this session, Amanda will highlight budgeting best practices including, long-term planning and forecasting, essential players in the budgeting process, and how to advocate for equitable funding for charter schools.

Statewide Business Operations Networking Meeting

Date: Thursday, February 10th, 2022

Time: 11:30am- 1:30pm

Location:  Virtual via Zoom Meetings

Details:  Please join us Thursday, February 10th, 2022, for the second Business Operations Networking Meeting of the 2021-2022 School year, “2022: A Look Back and a Look Forward: Best Practices and Future Observations from Experts in the Field”. During this session, charter school leaders, fiscal representatives, and board members will tell of their obstacles and triumphs in managing finances. They will also discuss future opportunities and threats. This is an excellent opportunity to hear different perspectives on the current state of charter school finances from peers.

Quarterly Authorizers Meeting

Date: Monday, February 28th, 2022

Time: 9:00am- 3:00pm

Location:  Hybrid: Zoom/In person: currently planned for the Westin Westminster, 10600 Westminster Blvd, Westminster, Colorado 80020 (update to be sent on 2/21 if there are any changes)

Details: All charter school authorizers are invited to join our quarterly Authorizer Meetings, which are held in collaboration with the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers (CACSA). Join this virtual event to hear programming updates from CDE, collaborate with other districts and authorizers and share updates on what you are working on. We hope to see you there.
