Overview:

Pikes Peak State College Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Elementary Education is a field-based teacher preparation program designed to prepare candidates for Colorado K-6 Elementary Teacher Licensure. Courses are offered in person that require field experiences in local elementary settings. As a Bachelor of Applied Science, the program prioritizes hands-on practice, guided fieldwork, and ongoing engagement in real classrooms. Candidates complete embedded field-based assignments throughout the program, making them uniquely prepared for the realities of today's classrooms upon graduation. Students entering the BAS in Elementary Education must have completed:

     •        An Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education (Please contact us for more information regarding transfers).

Prior to participating in field-based coursework, students are required to complete a fingerprint and background check, as mandated for work in school settings. Graduates leave the program with extensive classroom experience, strong professional relationships, and credentials that support teaching across elementary settings.
