Teachers who earn the CLDE endorsement have the skills, knowledge, and dispositions to support bilingual students in content and literacy instruction, to connect with the families and communities of bilingual learners, and to work towards justice, equity and inclusion in their school settings. The CLDE endorsement for students in the initial license UG Elementary education (k-6)  pathway comprises a sequence of ten classes (30 credits) that addresses the CDE CLDE Teacher Preparation Standards: 1. Language acquisition and development for bilingual students 2. Literacy development for bilingual students 3. Strategies and materials for English language and content learning 4. Culture, diversity and equity 5. Formative and summative assessments and progress monitoring to support learning for bilingual students. 6. Self-reflection and professional development.
