2016 Tenth Annual CLDE Academy

The CLDE Academy 2016, formally known as the LCE Academy, is in its 10th Annual year of celebration.  The Colorado Department of Education’s Office of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education has partnered with numerous stakeholders over the past 9 years, including the University of Colorado’s Bueno Center, National Geographic, Imagine Learning, The Region VIII Equity Assistance Center, The Colorado Association of Bilingual Education, CTB/McGraw Hill, and The Associated Directors of Bilingual Education to offer this annual professional learning opportunity.  The CLDE Academy continues this tradition in 2016 to offer an opportunity to network with colleagues across the state to provide a professional platform to learn and share innovative and effective practices and programs for Colorado English learners.

Call for Proposals for the 2016 CLDE Academy

The Session Proposal Form for the 2016 Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Academy (formerly the LCE Academy) is now available.  Over the past nine years, the Colorado Department of Education’s Office of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) has partnered with numerous stakeholders to offer this annual professional learning opportunity.  The Office of CLDE is making a call for session proposals for the 10th Annual CLDE Academy.  Session Proposal Forms will be due no later than 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016.   Session proposals should highlight one of the following topic areas:

  • Systemic Processes and Procedures
  • Human Resources
  • Research-based ELD Program Models
  • Collaborative Leadership
  • Fiscal Resources
  • Family and Community Partnering
  • Ongoing Evaluation of ELD Programs
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Organizational Culture
  • Other topics that would be beneficial to the field

2016 CLDE Academy Session Proposal Form

2016 Distinguished Administrator in Support of Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Learners 

The application for the 2016 Distinguished Administrator in Support of Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Learners is now available. Each year, the Office of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education honors an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled administrator that has demonstrated excellence in working with culturally and linguistically diverse students.  Nominees could include, but are not limited to: superintendents, assistant superintendents, central office, directors, coordinators, and building administrators.  Applications for this honor will be  due  no later than 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

Nominees should be:

  • Actively engaged in an ELD program at the time of the award;
  • Contribute to increased achievement of culturally and linguistically diverse learners;
  • Have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues; and
  • Exhibit distinguished leadership and service to the profession and the community.

2016 “I Am a Student of Culture” CLDE Academy Art Contest

The Colorado Department of Education’s Office of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education is looking for a talented student to showcase in the “I Am a Student of Culture” art contest.  The art competition is to highlight students’ artistic talents through fine art (including photography, digital media, sculpture, etc.).  The winner’s work will be on the cover of the program of the 10th Annual CLDE Academy Conference.  The winner and entering teacher will also be invited and honored at the awards luncheon.  Applications for this honor will be  due  no later than 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016. 

Qualifications for Entry:

  • Student must be a full-time K – 12 student;
  • Student artwork expressing the student’s views around the theme of “I Am a Student of Culture”
