  • Enrollment: Student enrollment for online schools and programs increased in the 2024-25 school year to 33,629 students. Of these online students in Colorado, 32,358 students are enrolled in online schools, and 1,271 students are enrolled in online programs. Online students represent 3.81% of all K-12 public school students in Colorado.

  • Graduation: The 4-year graduation rate for online schools in 2024 was 67.3%.

  • Dropout: Dropout rates for online schools reached an all-time low in 2024 at 3.6% and have been trending downward for the past decade.

  • Charter: Of the 62 Online schools in Colorado, 5 operate as charter schools. 29.3%  of all online students in the 2023-24 school year attended an online charter school. 

  • Grade Level: In the 2024-25 school year, 69% of all online students were enrolled in high school grade levels.

  • Demographics: In the 2024–25 school year, 53.1% of online students identified as members of a racial or ethnic minority group.

  • FRL Status: In the 2023-24 school year, online schools served 16,262 students who were eligible for free and reduced meals. This equates to 50.4% of students enrolled in online schools.

Multi-district and single-district online schools are held to the same reporting and accountability standards as any public school in the state and are assigned a school plan type rating based on the same applicable rating formula. Single-district online programs are not considered schools and accountability for the students is held at the brick-and-mortar school within the school district that serves as the official enrollment school for the student.
