The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework serves to eliminate barriers to student learning that are inherent in our classrooms. Further, UDL is the proactive design of curriculum and instruction to ensure they are educationally accessible regardless of modality preference, physical or sensory abilities. Expanding the UDL mindset to a systems level (MTSS) allows for increased opportunities for engagement and deepened understanding of information resulting in collective involvement for both staff and the community-at-large. This presentation will address the integration of MTSS and UDL as a model to identify systemic achievement gaps, inequitable access to instruction and lowered post-secondary outcomes.
