Webinar format
This webinar will cover:
- Who are the Multilingual Learners with the most significant cognitive disabilities
- Eligibility criteria for instruction on the Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEOs) and participation in the Colorado Alternate Assessment (CoAlt)
- Exclusionary factors IEP teams must consider
- The principles of the least dangerous assumption and the presumption of competence
- The purpose of the Alternate ACCESS
- Clarifying who must be involved in decision-making and who should take the alternate test
Participants will also review the federal and state regulations that guide this process, including:
- IDEA (34 C.F.R. §300.160)
- ESSA assessment rules (34 C.F.R. §200.6)
- U.S. Department of Education guidance on the Alternate Assessment based on Alternate Academic Achievement Standards (AA-AAAS) and the “1%” expectation
This webinar will provide clarity and practical guidance to ensure students’ rights to meaningful education and participation in appropriate assessment.
