This 2-day Toolkit training has been developed to support districts in the development of understanding how to identify students having an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with evaluation tools using a body of evidence in an educational setting (without using the ADOS).

Topics covered in the 2 days include:

  • How to develop an evaluation plan that meets the triad of characteristics of ASD across the full spectrum
  • Colorado numbers and trends for identification
  • Identification of girls with ASD
  • Frequently Asked Questions about Educational Identification


Registration & Confirmation

Registration is limited; walk up registration is not allowed without prior approval due to waitlists and materials.

Confirmation emails will be sent one week prior to the training. If you are confirmed to attend and your plans change, please contact Janet Zimmermann, at, immediately so that others may attend.

Who should attend?

School mental health professionals involved in ASD educational identification assessment including school psychologists, school social workers, speech/language pathologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists, district administrators and other team members who are part of the evaluation team.


A working lunch will be NOT be provided at the training, however plenty of time will be given for participants to leave. Please plan accordingly.


The Exceptional Student Services Unit of the Colorado Department of Education provides the funding for the presenters. Venue space is provided by the hosting school district/AU or CDE. There will be no reimbursement provided to participants.

Those who attend the full 14-hour requirement will receive CDE hours in the form of a certificate of attendance; partial credit will not be given. Both days are required.
