  • Colorado’s Education Improvement Efforts “101” (PDF)
    Colorado has a comprehensive education improvement agenda which over the past few years has been encoded into state law. This fact sheet provides an overview, implementation progress and next steps for Colorado's Achievement Plan for Kids (Senate Bill 08-212), the Education Accountability Act (Senate Bill 09-163) and the Great Teachers and Leaders Act (Senate Bill 10-191).
  • Overview of the 2013-14 ESEA Consolidated Application (PDF)
    Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) funds are intended to assist districts achieve accelerated growth in those students most at-risk of not meeting academic standards. The improved consolidated application provides local education associations (LEAs) with an enhanced tool designed to identify and coordinate grant strategies leading to a greater impact on student achievement.

    The Education Accountability Act of 2009 (Senate Bill 09-163) holds the state, districts, and individual public schools accountable for performance on the same set of indicators and related measures. This fact sheet provides an overview on the district and school performance frameworks, and the Unified Improvement Planning process.
  • Rural Education Council (PDF)
    With 80 percent of Colorado’s school districts recognized as rural, the Rural Education Council was created to support and advocate for the needs, concerns and particular challenges of rural school districts.
  • School and District Accountability during the 2015 Assessment Transition: Overview of HB 14-1182 (PDF) 
    As Colorado implements new standards and assessments, some adjustments will need to be made to the state’s accountability system. The greatest impact will come in the spring of 2015 with the transition from the reading, writing and mathematics Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) assessments to the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments that include the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessments in English language arts and mathematics. House Bill 14-1182 was passed in 2014 to address the impact of the 2015 assessment transition on school and district accountability.
  • TELL Colorado Survey 2015  (PDF)
    Initiated through HB 08-1384, the Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Survey is a biennial statewide survey of school-based staff (teachers and leadership) on their perceptions of the teaching and learning conditions in their schools. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Districts and schools that get at least 50 percent participation (and at least five respondents) have access to their own data.
  • Turnaround Network (PDF)
    Uses a framework to support schools in developing a rigorous improvement plan that pushes on four research-based conditions: culture of performance; academic systems; talent and operations; and district support.
