Adams 12 Five Star Schools is accredited as a Performance District in Colorado, serving students in preschool through 12th-grade. We’re a caring, inclusive and engaging district which exists so the students it serves can attain the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue the future of their choosing and are equipped to navigate and thrive in our rapidly changing world. Our mission is to engage and inspire all students to innovate, achieve and succeed in a safe environment by ensuring high quality instruction in every classroom, every day. Located just seven miles north of downtown Denver, Adams 12 Five Star Schools is the sixth largest district in the state offering more than 32,000 students and their families the benefits of a large community with a close-knit feel. That's reflected in the numerous opportunities for students, staff and parents at any of the district's more than 50 unique learning centers. The five stars represent the five cities the district serves: Broomfield, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster. This financial transparency website is the result of state legislation passed in 2014. It requires the Colorado Department of Education to create a website that translates the expenditures and revenues for school districts into a format that is easily understandable. To be consistent with federal reporting requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education, the method used on this website excludes certain records from revenue and expenditure totals. These records are excluded to avoid duplication or inflation of revenues and expenditures. For example, indirect costs, overhead costs, interfund transfers and flow through of funds are not included. This method is in contrast to the presentation in the Adams 12 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the district’s budgetary reporting. Adams 12 reports include all expenditures and revenues as required by the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) defined through the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Below are links to documents on the Adams 12 website that provide a comprehensive financial profile. These documents should be reviewed along with this financial transparency website for the greatest clarity. The Adams 12 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report includes financials presented under the GAAP along with management’s discussion and analysis and the budget is a comprehensive document for all Adams 12 funds: https://www.adams12.org/our-district/financials/financial-transparency
