Adams 12 Five Star Schools is accredited as a Performance District in Colorado, serving students from preschool through 12th grade. We are a caring, inclusive, and engaging district committed to helping students gain the knowledge and skills they need to pursue the future of their choosing and thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our mission is to engage and inspire all students to innovate, achieve, and succeed in a safe environment by ensuring high-quality instruction in every classroom, every day. Located just seven miles north of downtown Denver, Adams 12 Five Star Schools is the sixth-largest school district in Colorado, serving more than 32,000 students and their families. While large, the district maintains a close-knit community feel—reflected in the many opportunities available to students, staff, and families across our more than 50 unique learning centers. The “Five Stars” represent the five cities we proudly serve: Broomfield, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster. This Financial Transparency Website was created in response to legislation passed in 2014, which directed the Colorado Department of Education to present school district financial data in a clear and user-friendly format. To align with federal reporting requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education, some financial records are excluded from this website’s revenue and expenditure totals. These exclusions help prevent duplication or inflation of reported amounts and include items such as indirect costs, overhead, interfund transfers, and flow-through funds. As a result, the data presented here differs from what is reported in Adams 12's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and budget documents. The ACFR follows Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as defined by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and includes all district revenues and expenditures. For the most complete understanding of Adams 12’s financial picture, we encourage you to review the following documents in addition to this website: https://www.adams12.org/our-district/financials/financial-transparency These include the ACFR, budget reports, and other resources that offer a comprehensive look at our district’s finances.
