Soaring Heights PK-8 is a STEM-focused school in the St. Vrain Valley School District in Erie, Colorado, serving preschool through eighth-grade students. Its mission is to ''foster the needs of the whole child by encouraging each student to reach their unique academic and social potential.'' The school's vision is to be ''a world-class STEM school where students learn to think critically, solve problems creatively, and collaborate effectively.'' PK-8. The majority of our students come from the surrounding neighborhoods. We have approximately 9.3% free and reduced lunch students in the school. Minority 22.4%, Multilingual learners 4.8%, Students on IEPs 11.9%, Gifted Students 7.9%. Attendance rate 94.3%. The Erie Feeder system (comprised of three other elementary schools, one middle, and one high). As a STEM focus school emphasizing Neuroscience, we integrate the St. Vrain Valley Schools curriculum and a daily Innovation time. We believe preparing students to succeed in a rapidly changing world and highly competitive international economy is imperative. Beyond a rigorous academic curriculum, students must learn to think logically and critically, communicate effectively, give and receive feedback, and show empathy towards others. We believe that students, teachers, and parents are all essential to and share in responsibility for the learning process.
