The mission of James Irwin Charter Middle School is to help guide students in the development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs. Located in Harrison District 2 with approximately 450 students--38.8% FRL population, 70.9% minority population, 16.5% English Language students, 29.1% white students, single-gender classes, and a student population from several districts and surrounding areas. eeds of all students. The UIP development team is comprised of the principal, assistant principal, teacher coach, MTSS specialist, and teacher input who will work together to complete the UIP. This is a seventh-year team working collectively for the good of our students. We used CMAS and MAP data, along with JICMS student academic performance, for this UIP report. Except for Multilingual Learners who are approaching in achievement and growth and Free and Reduced Lunch students who are approaching in growth, all other disaggregated groups meet state standards. Multilingual Learners and Free and Reduced Lunch groups are the priority for improvement. In response to the approaching needed growth, middle school staff and faculty have implemented multiple strategies--reading in all classes, homework help club, after school individual and small group tutoring, and math labs during the school day.
