FY24/25 was a year of pivotal transformation and resilience for Platte Canyon School District 1. The District successfully navigated major operational updates, including the implementation of shared bus routes and the consolidation of middle and high school students into a single building. This milestone directly advances the District's long-term master plan to consolidate its campuses. Financially, the District capitalized on its state-awarded BEST Grant, utilizing voter-approved bond extension funds to fully ... FY24/25 was a year of pivotal transformation and resilience for Platte Canyon School District 1. The District successfully navigated major operational updates, including the implementation of shared bus routes and the consolidation of middle and high school students into a single building. This milestone directly advances the District's long-term master plan to consolidate its campuses. Financially, the District capitalized on its state-awarded BEST Grant, utilizing voter-approved bond extension funds to fully remodel the former middle school building into a modern, highly functional elementary school. Additionally, the District expanded its community services by opening the new Platte Canyon Early Learning Center on the main campus in the fall of 2024. The District expanded its academic programming by introducing a Hydrology Micro-Credential and increasing online course offerings. Students achieved high success rates in both AP and college-level courses. Additionally, elementary reading intervention services continued to thrive, providing vital support to young readers in grades heavily impacted by pandemic-related closures. While state funding remains challenging, the District is in a strong financial position due to strategic staffing adjustments, right sizing through natural attrition, reducing overhead costs in areas of technology and utilities, sales of surplus land, and efficient fund management. These efforts allow for continued campus renovations while pursuing the long-term savings and efficiencies of a consolidated PK-12 campus.
