About Florence Jr./Sr. High School (3002)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Florence Jr./Sr. High School

2023-2024

Florence Jr/Sr High School is a campus in Fremont County, which houses 7th through 12th grade. Our district works to meet the following Commitment Statements: Vision/Mission statement: We commit to preparing Fremont RE-2 graduates who can demonstrate critical thinking, academic performance, and workforce pathways. We commit to safe learning environments where all students can grow, develop and learn. We commit to being a team that supports each other professionally, respectfully, openly communic… ates, and uses a solution-based approach to problem-solving. We commit to working collaboratively to accomplish our goals. We commit to building positive relationships involving home, community and school. In Fremont Re-2 school district our vision is to grow to be a destination district through intentional efforts, purposeful work and pride. Fremont Re-2 is a small, rural district in southern Colorado. Fremont Re-2 is composed of two PreK-6 grade elementary schools that feed into one 7-12 grade junior senior high school and serves close to 1400 students. The Florence Career and Technical Education program seeks to expand these opportunities for all students in the county by offering participation in this project and robust career pathways in agriculture, specifically floriculture. The district also works with Pueblo Community College and Colorado State University of Pueblo to offer concurrent enrollment courses for our students in many content areas. These partnerships and offerings continue to expand with the work of the Home Grown Talent Initiative that works to increase work based learning opportunities for all students. The commitment of the district to ensure that every student will know their individual path following high school honors our families and provides support for all students to have goals post-secondary. In addition to our dedication to strong post-secondary pathways, the district was awarded a School Counselor Corps Grant in the Spring of 2021. This grant works towards increasing a strong counseling presence PK-12 by hiring additional counselors to support the increasing social emotional needs of students, identify a clear social emotional education curriculum and help to guide all students in their graduation pathway. The district is working to hire three additional counselors, one at each school to support the grant and the work. By 2025, every Fremont Re-2 student will experience a PK-12 program of study that will prepare them for postsecondary success by offering ample opportunities to be exposed to, to explore, and to experience work-based learning through a comprehensive career-connected curriculum. : As part of the Homegrown Talent Initiative, the district has created the Husky Graduate Profile. This communicates to all stakeholders our commitment to educating all students to become self-aware, globally connected and a learner for life. These competencies are embedded in our teaching Preschool through 12th grade. Fremont RE-2 works hard to ensure all initiatives align with the district commitment statements within our Standards Based Instructional Model.
