Byers Elementary School is a small rural school of approximately 300 students PK through sixth grade. We have one principal, a reading interventionist, a Title One teacher, a Special Education teacher, 16 classroom teachers, a full time Music teacher and PE teacher, a part time Art teacher and part time Technology teacher, plus seven paraprofessionals. Data and planning meetings are held weekly, PK through sixth. At the meetings we discuss student data (formative and summative_ and then adjust o…
ur planning and instruction to best meet our student's needs. Monthly we hold grade level meetings to calibrate student assessments, review and revise our actual summative assessments and create action plans based on student products all using Impact team protocols as needed. Students are given a 90 minute literacy block, plus 60 minutes of writing instruction daily. Based on their data, student needing intervention are placed in small groups with their classroom teacher and those needing a more intense intervention work with our Interventionist, Title One teacher, or our Special Education teacher. We continue to use the Eureka Math curriculum, a program we adopted in 2017.
