Ellicott School District #22

Community Developers are busy building homes and communities, which translates into an expected student population increase. The District went to the voters to ask for $570,000 mill-levy override to increase employee salaries and facilities maintenance and upgrade and were denied the request. Now as the rooftops are becoming visible the district was forced to find an immediate solution to accommodate more students and secured a COP for $5.8 million to build 2 steel buildings at the High School Site and Elementary Site. Also to try and retain teachers and to attract new teachers the District raised its base salary from $36K to $42K- which makes us more competitive with the Pikes Peak region- but still falls short of the $50K mark being set by the districts to the west. In summation: "The Ellicott School District is expected to make a fine dining experience on government rations."
