Masks for Colorado Schools
In support of the State of Colorado's ongoing efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and to assist in the mitigation of virus spread, Governor Jared Polis directed the distribution of KN95 respirators and surgical masks at no cost to school districts, BOCES, charter schools, private schools and facility schools for staff and students. Shipments will resume on Thursday, Aug. 19, and continue until further notice, or the end of the school year.
Governor Polis directed the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) to re-start the school mask program. This is a continuation of the program which supplied masks during the 2020-21 school year. This is an opt-in program and schools will not receive masks if they do not inform DHSEM of their desire to participate in the program. DHSEM will supply KN95 respirators, surgical/procedural masks, and child-sized masks to schools that opt-in to the program. Masks will be sent on a weekly basis via FedEx.
School Districts, BOCES, charter schools, facility schools, and private schools can opt into the school mask program by filling out the web form at the link below. Please include a physical shipping address along with the point of contact that includes a phone number and email of the person responsible for receiving the masks at each requested location. Please note that FedEx will not deliver to P.O. boxes.
The best mask for you is one that you can wear comfortably and consistently. The link below contains information about surgical and KN95 masks, how to clean or dispose of masks, and additional mask information.
