This office performs compliance audits as required by the Public School Finance and Public School Transportation rules and law. The office provides technical guidance and support throughout the pupil count and transportation data submissions to assist districts prior to finalizing submissions. The School Auditing Office is part of the School Finance Unit within the School Finance and Operations Division.
- Performs compliance audits for the Public School Finance Act and the Public School Transportation Fund.
- Trains school districts in audit documentation required as referenced in the various audit resource guides.
- Assists school districts in maximizing per pupil funding by advising the districts on the appropriate documentation for counting a student and calculating seat time thereby reducing their audit liability.
- Works with other offices within CDE to assist in communicating audit document requirements based on state statute and board rule.
