Office of Gifted Education

Overview

Welcome to the gifted education section of the CDE website. We hope that at this site, you will find answers to many of your questions and the support you need for working with highly-able students. The Office of Gifted Education is one of three offices under the Exceptional Student Services Unit (along with the Office of Special Education and the Office of Facility Schools).

Vision

All Gifted students will accomplish challenging post-secondary work/force goals and become productive, creative citizens capable of succeeding in their area of strength.

Mission

Ensure gifted student growth and achievement through systems of support, programming and advocacy.

What's New

Depth & Complexity Workshops filled to capacity

The Metro Region is hosting workshops and Trainer of Trainer workshops 1-3 of Empowering Students to Think and Learn Using the Depth $ Complexity Framework from January through June 2018.  Registration is now closed at 60 participants each.  A new round of workshops will be held beginning in the Fall of 2018.  For more information on this statewide professional development project from the Office of Gifted Education visit the Depth & Complexity page of this website.
