Teachers, parents and students invited to provide input on use of federal COVID relief funds for education

DENVER -- The Colorado Department of Education and the State Board of Education are seeking input through a survey and series of virtual public meetings on how to maximize the use of federal funds to support the state’s students, teachers and schools.

Colorado has roughly $132 million in federal funding from three federal stimulus bills for education. CDE must submit to the U.S. Department of Education a plan for the use of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds at the end of the summer. To help prepare the proposal and maximize the impact of these one-time funds, the state wants to hear from students, parents, teachers and school and system leaders along with community organizations.

Click here to access the survey or to register for the meetings. The survey and the meetings will provide participants with the opportunity to give feedback about the pandemic’s impact on students and educators and provide ideas on the best use for these one-time federal funds.

Visit the CARES Act webpage for more information on the federal COVID-19 education funds.
