Powerful Practice Course Discussion Guide

Discussion Guide

This companion to "Powerful Practice: Evidence-Informed Math Teaching" was developed to address the limitations of the asynchronous, online modality of the course. While the course covers a wide range of current research on math instruction, its virtual format lacks collaborative activities. To remedy this, regular synchronous meetings can provide a collaborative space for participants to focus on applying course content directly to classroom routines, offering a more comprehensive learning experience. Structured to ensure consistency and reliability, this guide facilitates effective discussion amongst participants with classroom responsibilities (like teachers, tutors, paras, etc.) to aid in transference of knowledge from theory to practice.  The guide is broken up by module and includes some recommendations on how best to navigate and use it.
