UPDATE (rev. 6.17.2020):
With the emergence of COVID-19 came myriad challenges, including those that directly tap the state's fiscal resources. As a result, all state agencies were tasked with identifying any areas (such as grants and awards) where funding had yet to be spent and all areas (including programs and staff) where budgets may be affected. National board stipends was one such identified area.
On Friday, June 12, 2020, the state legislature concluded its work for the 2020 session, which included funding for these stipend awards (prorated per percentage of FTE and certification) for the 2019-2020 year. CDE is moving as quickly as possible to sort through the final fiscal adoptions, as there still are several steps that need to be completed before stipends will be sent to the districts for distribution to awardees.
We will be contacting all those nationally certified school professionals who submitted an application and who qualified for a stipend during the 2019-2020 distribution cycle via email by Friday, June 19, 2020, and are working to issue the stipends as quickly as possible.
Please note: Due to the deficits stemming from the pandemic, the legislature has not allocated funding for these stipends for the 2020-2021 school year. As such, this application process will not be made available in fall 2020.
Thank you for your patience with this ever-evolving situation
