A. Distance Learning Attendance Reporting
Grantees using approved distance learning platforms must report attendance hours as distance learning hours in LACES. See the Distance Learning Policy (DOCX) for additional information. Reporting in LACES differs for distance learning Clock Time Model instructional hours and distance learning Master Model instructional hours.
Clock Time Model - Enter attendance for the hours achieved on the exact day on which those hours were recorded by the instructional platform. Label the hours as “Distance” and include the subject area (ESL, Language Arts, Math) in the hours type category. Just like in-person attendance, Clock Time Model instructional hours must be entered in LACES weekly (at a minimum) and be reported at the daily level.
Learner Mastery Model - Enter attendance for all cumulative hours achieved in a unit of instruction on the day on which the learner achieves mastery. Label the hours as “Distance” and include the subject area (ESL, Language Arts, Math) in the hours type category. Data entry staff and teachers should make every reasonable effort to report Learner Mastery Model hours in LACES as soon as is possible.
