Unified Improvement Planning - Materials from the May 1-4, 2012 Trainings

Updating your UIP Toolkit

  • May 1 & 3, 2012 Training Description:

This session will give district leaders an opportunity to learn about changes to the District and School Performance Framework reports and the Unified Improvement Planning template for the coming school year and to access new and updated resources. Many of these changes were proposed in the NCLB Flexibility waiver, which was granted by the US Department of Education and goes into effect for the 2012-2013 school year. Participants will have an opportunity to explore updated resources that can be used as part of locally provided training for schools. They will also have opportunities to learn from and with other district leaders as they plan for the next year of implementing unified improvement planning.

Diving Into New Data (for improvement planning and continuous improvement)

This session will give district leaders an opportunity to dive into the details related to specific measures and metrics that will be included in the School and District Performance Framework reports and used in Unified Improvement Planning for the 2012-13 year. Participants will deepen their experience accessing, analyzing and interpreting new measures including: CELApro growth, disaggregated graduation rates, and equitable distribution of teachers. Participants will be exposed to guidance related to setting targets for achievement of disaggregated student groups now that AYP is no longer being calculated. This session will also address lessons learned from state review of unified improvement plans about typical difficulties in data analyses: determining which trends are important to include in improvement plans, identifying appropriate priority performance challenges, and customizing data analysis for turnaround and priority improvement schools.
