Office of Standards And Instructional Support (SIS)
Important Message from the Office of Standards and Instructional Support (SIS):
January 31, 2013
As the Standards and Instructional Support (SIS) office pursued the re-launch of this website, we wanted to ensure that visitors consistently find value in their (re)visits; that its content would consistently represent relevant, usable, and timely information/materials. Toward this goal, we intentionally use this space to update and highlight the latest standards implementation support tools and resources for Colorado’s educators. And with this update we are particularly excited and proud to shine the spotlight on the newly available 600+, teacher-created curriculum samples produced during the first phase of Colorado’s District Sample Curriculum Project.
The Project represents a response to Colorado educators’ requests for voluntary-use curriculum samples based on the new Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) and embodies three fundamental goals:
- Facilitating successful implementation of the new Colorado Academic Standards
- Helping build the capacity of Colorado educators to create curriculum materials based on the standards
- Bringing together Colorado’s educators to create a variety of samples that reflect the diversity of our school districts
From its inception, the Project has been informed by the needs and driven by the participation of educators across the state; which will continue to be the case as the Project proceeds. The curriculum samples located on this website were all created by the Colorado educators whose names appear as authors at the bottom of each sample page.
As we move closer to implementation in SY 2013-14, the content specialists in the SIS office and I have no doubt these samples will prove extremely useful for school districts as they intentionally plan for the instructional demands of the CAS. The links on this page provide access to and descriptions of the samples as well as more detailed information about the project, its timeline, and participation opportunities. We look forward to hearing your feedback on the Project and the samples.
