An important step in every continuous improvement model is taking time to reflect as you prepare to move forward with next steps and continue your learning. After completing the Awareness and Dissemination section of the Standards Implementation Toolkit, educators should be able to:

• Explain the process used to revise the standards.

• Articulate the key components of SB 08-212.

• Know the terminology used in the new Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado English Language Proficiency Standards.

• Understand the relationship among postsecondary workforce readiness, prepared graduate competencies, and 21st century skills.

• Define Colorado’s five 21st century skills.

• Reflect on the intended and unintended consequences of standards-based education.

• Know the four phases of standards implementation and why they are necessary to realize Colorado’s vision for students.

• Implement the components of an intentional design process.

• Articulate the critical components of the Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado English Language Proficiency Standards.
