Announcement

Educator Identifier Project – Linking Student and Educator Data Stakeholder Meetings

Attn: Superintendents, Principals, Data Contacts, Curriculum Staff, Technical Staff

Over the next couple months, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) will be conducting numerous stakeholder meetings as part of Phase III of the Educator Identifier Project. Phase III focuses on linking student achievement data to educator data.

The goal of the meetings is to reach out to many districts and solicit their input as part of the ongoing process to develop the state’s model for linking student and educator data. It will be important to keep the meetings to no more than 20 participants.

The Metro Denver meetings will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Colorado Department of Education in the State Board Room, 201 E. Colfax, Denver, CO 80202.

* Monday, Sept. 13; 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Monday, Sept. 27; 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Monday, Oct. 4; 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Along with the Denver-area meetings, CDE plans to conduct at least four additional meetings outside the metro area (eastern plains, western slope, north and south front-range). Lisa Bradley will be reaching out to districts to schedule those.

The agenda includes:

2:30 p.m. – Welcome
2:45 p.m. – Goals/Expectations
3:00 p.m. – Overview of the Educator Identifier Project
Phase I – Generating the IDs
Phase II – Integrating the IDs
Phase III – Linking the IDs
3:15 p.m. – Process for gathering input
3:30 p.m. – Your Input
4:30 p.m. – Q & A
5:00 p.m. - Wrap up & next steps

To sign up for the metro stakeholder meetings, please visit http://www.cde.state.co.us/scripts/EIDProjectLinkingStudentReg10/registration.asp. Again, to ensure we receive the most feedback it is important to keep attendance to no more than 20 participants per meeting.

AMAO Release and Webinars

Attn: Title III Directors, District Assessment Coordinators

Results for the 2009-2010 Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) should be available in CEDAR beginning this week or next. Title III Directors will receive an email when the data is live. AMAOs are the accountability measures for Title III of No Child Left Behind, Language Instruction for Limited-English Proficient and Immigrant Students. There are three AMAO targets. AMAOs 1 and 2 are calculated from the CELA-pro (Colorado English Language Proficiency Assessment) and measure the progress students are making in attaining English proficiency and the percent of students who have attained English proficiency in English based on the CELA exam. AMAO 3 is the result of AYP for English language learners. Data for AMAOs 1 and 2 will be available in CEDAR this week. Districts already have access to AMAO 3 data through previously released AYP data.

Webinars have been scheduled for the following dates and times. The trainings will provide a detailed definition of AMAOs, how they are calculated and the ramifications if AMAOs are not met.

Friday, Sept. 10; 2-3:30 pm
Monday, Sept. 13; 10-11:30 am
Monday, Sept 13; 2-3:30 pm

To register please contact Ashley Anderson at anderson_a@cde.state.co.us.

Additionally, all the materials from the webinar will be posted on our web site at the link below.
