Announcement
Availability of Data from Colorado’s Growth Model
Attn: Superintendents, DACs, Principals, BOCES directors
We are pleased to announce the availability of data for Colorado’s Growth Model. This is a three-part story:
1. ‘Flat Files’ of Growth Data Available August 12th via CEDAR: The Student Assessment unit yesterday transmitted an e-mail from Ken Turner to district assessment coordinators announcing the availability of data files with 2008 individual student growth data. Follow the link below for this information.
2. District and School Summaries available August 15th via CEDAR: CDE will furnish districts with summaries of district and school growth results that are suitable for public disclosure. These summaries will be based on students that were enrolled in schools on October 1st and will show data only when 16 or more students were included in a group. These summaries will be made available to the public on August 19th.
3. Software to Display Growth Results: Deployment begins August 15th with a group of districts and BOCES that have volunteered to install the “beta” version of the software. This group will provide feedback on the download process and functionality of the software. Pending feedback from this group we will expand access to all districts. To prepare for installation of this software, you will first need to download Adobe software that will allow you to use the displays. Please visit the link below for a letter from Ken Turner that describes how to do so.

Superintendents
Attn: Educate Your Staff and Families About CHP+ and Family Medicaid
Researchers using the Current Population Survey data indicate that as many as 110,000 children in the state may be eligible for public health insurance programs, but are not enrolled.
Colorado Family Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) are free-to-low-cost health and dental insurance programs for uninsured Colorado children ages 18 and under. Eligibility is based on family size and income. Several deductions may also be applied to the family’s income. This means that families may make more money and still qualify for these public insurance programs.
Health Care Services for children covered by these public health insurance programs include: Well-child check-ups, doctor visits, sick-child care, hospitalization and hospital services, immunizations, dental services, mental health services, eye care and eye glasses, prescriptions (medicine) and hearing aids.
Children and pregnant women can also get services right away through their local health centers and health departments. To find a site near them, call 303-866-3513 in the Denver metro area or 1-800-221-3943.
Visit the link below for information regarding CHP+ outreach support or training opportunities, please call 303-830-3558.
